The English Wine Project At Renishaw

Historic & Award-Winning

Sir Reresby Sitwell planted the Vineyard at Renishaw in 1972, based a short walk alongside the Stable Courtyard. At the time, those surrounding him doubted whether or not the vines would grow due to Renishaw’s northern location. To his delight, the vines grew, and it was named the most northern vineyard in the country until 1986.

In 2011, Renishaw’s vineyard was taken over by Kieron Atkinson, owner of The English Wine Project and award-winning winemaker. During the open season, English Wine Project hosts several public tours that shed light on the journey of winemaking and all that it entails. Alongside this, guests can taste a selection of finished products, with an opportunity to purchase bottles from the café and visitors centre.

Tours of the vineyard with English Wine Project are highly recommended and take place on selected Sundays at 12pm and 2pm. For dates, bookings and  more information, please visit www.englishwineproject.co.uk
